Comparison : Samsung Galaxy S 4 (rumored) or Samsung Galaxy S 3

With the advancing date of release of the brand new Samsung Galaxy S 4, rumours could not have been stopped from spreading. It was more encouraged with the extremely tight-lipped behaviour of the manufacturing company so far. Given the high amount of anticipation from the fans and users and prospective buyers of Samsung mobiles,  rumours were further egged on, in the form of ‘leaks’ and ‘sources’. Moreover, with the approaching day of release of the new Samsung Galaxy S 4, sometime in March 2013, along with speculations and anticipations, comparisons could not also be helped. One of the most obvious comparisons was that between the features of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 and the Samsung Galaxy S 3.
Display
Starting with the aspect of the display of these two phones, the Samsung Galaxy S 3 has a 4.8 inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels resulting to a pixel density of 306 ppi. The Samsung Galaxy S 4 has aced, having a 5 inch display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels amounting to a clarity of 441 ppi. Both support multi-touch and have a screen protection of Corning Gorilla Glass 2 and TouchWiz UI. Both also have the 3.5 mm jack for their superior quality headphones.
Memory
Both have an internal storage of 16 GB, while the Samsung Galaxy S 3 has options for 32 and 64 GB as well. The external memory of both can be expanded up to 64 GB. The Samsung Galaxy S 3 has a RAM of 1 GB while the Samsung Galaxy S 4 again aced with a RAM of 2 GB.
Camera
Now comes the camera of both these phones. While the Samsung Galaxy S 3 has a 8 MP primary camera with a resolution of 3264 x 2448 pixels and is equipped with autofocus and LED flash, the new Samsung Galaxy S 4 triumphs yet again with a 13 MP primary camera with an even higher resolution, and the same autofocus and LED flash. Both are also equipped with secondary camera.

The Samsung Galaxy S 3 uses an operating system of Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich, upgradeable to 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. However, the Samsung Galaxy S 4 is equipped with the latest Android 4.2 Jelly Bean.
Processor
The Samsung Galaxy S 3 is equipped with an Exynos 4412 Quad chipset and is powered by a quad core 1.4 GHz processor of Cortex A9 while the Samsung Galaxy S 4 is equipped with an Exynos 5450 Quad Chipset and is powered by a quad core 2 GHz processor of Cortex A15. Both have the sensors like accelerometer, barometer, compass and gyro and proximity sensors. The Samsung Galaxy S 3 uses HTML browser while the Samsung Galaxy S 4 uses HTML 5 browser. Both have the smart eye tracking system, voice commands, noise cancellation, Google Maps, Search, Mail, Talk, Picasa, Calendar, YouTube and other applications.
Battery
While the Samsung Galaxy S 3 uses a 2100 mAh battery, the Samsung Galaxy S 4 uses a 2600 mAh battery.
Verdict
In conclusion, it can be said that although the new and hyped Samsung Galaxy S 4 aced in quite a few aspects, it may not be very wise to dish out about 10,000 INR on just a few extra features. The new Samsung Galaxy S 4 may definitely be worth the price, but what its predecessor offers at a lower price is not exactly very less. However, that may be quite untrue for people who carry their personal assistant in their mobiles and tablet. For them, it is definitely worth.
